Toilet Design
A design of a toilet in which human excreta are treated by earthworms has been tested in India. It has been found to be a novel technique. Toilet that required little water is safe for processing of human waste. The conversion of toilet waste is very simple and hygienic. The human excreta are completely converted to vermicakes -a resource much needed for soil.

Asia's largest telescope
Asia's largest telescope is in Tamilnadu ( India ). It is situated at Kavalur in Javathu Mountain in Thrivannamalai District. It is named as vainubabu. Its diameter is 2.3 meter. It was designed and made in India in 1986 and a small planet was observed through this telescope in 1988. This planet is named 4130 Ramanujar.

Calculation Of Indian Time
The local time of the meridian is used for calculating the Indian standard time, Which is followed by all the places within the country. It is usually 5.1/2 hours ahead of Greenwich mean timee of the world. The 0 meridian passes through Greenwich in England. Each degree off the merieian account for 4 minutes of time and that difference between Greenwich and Indian Standard time is 82.1/2 degrees * 4= 330 minutes which is 5. 1/2 hours.

Big Banyan
The big banyan tree in the Indian Botanical Garden near Kolkata has produced over 900 such prop roots from its branches. Its age is more than 200 years and its diameter is well over 360 meter.
Kurinji
Kurinji is a rare flower that blooms once in 12 years. It is endemic to Tamilnadu. The Nilgiris which literally means the " blue mountains " get's its name from the purplish blue flowers of Neelakurinji. The last blooming season was in 2006.
